Why our coffee is roasted in Massachusetts

Roasted coffee beans

The beans arrive green from Nariño, Colombia. Then they go through our roaster in Northborough, Massachusetts.

We don't roast it ourselves — not yet. We went with someone close to home who already does it well, instead of improvising our own roast before we've earned it. It's the same thing we say about origin, applied to this end of the trip: we don't manufacture, we choose.

Every bag says when it was roasted. When a lot changes, we tell you before it arrives. It's the same traceability we ask for at origin — we hold ourselves to it here too.

You can read more about the people behind each lot, and about the importer who brings the coffee in, on our partners and suppliers page.
